Customs DTRE branch detects tax evasion of Rs 10.032m by M/s Zahidjee Textile Mills

FAISALABAD: The customs Collectorate Faisalabad Duty and Tax Remission on Export (DTRE) branch has detected tax evasion and short payment of duty and taxes amounting to Rs 10.032 million allegedly by M/s Zahidjee Textile Limited. The DTRE has also imposed a penalty on the said company.

Sources told Customs Today that the company availed undue benefits and concessions by using PCT heading and caused loss to the national kitty.

Afghan route closure weighs on Pakistan-Central Asia trade, exports fall 9%, imports plunge 88%

During scrutiny of the record it was revealed that M/s Zahidjee Textile Mills were granted DTRE approval for a period of 2 year according to prevailing DTRE rules of that period.

But the DTRE the company imported more consignments of duty free raw material during the extended period for which the user was not entitled.

The extension in the utilization period is granted for consumption and export of raw material already imported which could not be consumed whitin the stipulated period.

The Audit team comprising Assistant Collector Muhammad Idrees Superintendent Dilawar Hussain and Inspector Ghulam Murtaza Anjum.

DTRE branch directed the management of M/s Zahidjee Textile to clear outstanding amount failing which stern action will be taken against the company.
