SIALKOT: The Gujranwala Customs Intelligence and Investigation has auctioned four vehicles and earned Rs 6 million.
Reportedly, the Customs Intelligence and Investigation teams impounded non-duty paid vehicles during several operations in the region which it has auctioned. Superintendent Customs Intelligence Chaudhary Muhammad Akmal told Customs Today that the departmental teams impounded four vehicles which were playing on roads without customs clearance. The vehicles were impounded from Sheikhupura, Sialkot and Narowal. He said that owners of the vehicles did not contact with officials of the department to present documents and the department referred cases to the adjudication court.
He said after laboratory test and decision of learned court the department done auction of four impounded vehicles Toyota Hilux Surf Model 92, Mark X Model 2006, Toyota Fielder Model 99 and Toyota Saloon 2000. He said that four different parties participated in the auction and four parties done auction for vehicles. The auction was done in Rs6 million. The parties have paid Rs.1.5 million as first instalment of auction and balance amount will pay by the parties within seven days. He said that the operation of Customs Intelligence and Investigation is continue against the non-duty paid vehicles under the strict instructions of Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) and fruitful results are observing day by day for this purpose. He said that the public is also co-operating with department to curb smuggling from the region and informers of department are very sincere and they intimate department in time so that department teams take action against smugglers. He said the department is doing operation as per customs laws and under Act 1969.
