IHC reserves verdict on tax reference filed by M/s Pak Telecom Mobile against tax recovery notice

ISLAMABAD: A single bench of the Islamabad High Court (IHC) on Thursday reserved its decision on a tax reference filed by M/s Pak Telecom Mobile Limited in which the company had challenged a tax recovery claim amounting to Rs 581,200,839 issued by the field office of the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR).

The IHC single bench comprising Justice Miangul Hassan Aurangzeb heard the case and reserved decision after hearing arguments from counsels of M/s Pak Telecom Mobile Limited and the FBR.

M/s Pak Telecom Mobile Limited had filed the case, seeking to restrict the Large Taxpayers Unit, Islamabad, from recovering outstanding tax amount of Rs 581,200,839.

The appellant had also sought from court to nullify the LTU order carrying the claim about outstanding tax amount.

The appellant had challenged an LTU order, issued on February 27, 2015 before the IHC after exhausting the departmental platform for appealing disputing orders. The department had issued the order under section 122 (1) and 122(5) of Income Tax Ordinance, 2001.

Federal Board of Revenue (FBR), officers of LTU including commissioner Inland Revenue, commissioner Inland Revenue (Appeals) and Appellate Tribunal Inland Revenue were made
