Saud Imran’s Customs Intelligence detains 3 Niazi Express buses loaded with illegal items

LAHORE: The Customs Intelligence and Investigation Lahore has foiled a bid to smuggle auto parts, cloth, accessories, hair oil worth millions of rupees from Niazi passenger buses which were coming from Peshawar to Lahore, sources told Customs Today.

The sources said that on secret information, the Customs Intelligence and Investigation team intercepted three buses of Niazi Express coming from Peshawar to Lahore near Shera Kot and Babu Sabu Interchange.

The sources said that the smugglers tactfully covered illegal items, including auto-parts, oil-filters, auto-parts of Land Cruiser cars and other miscellaneous item in the buses.

The customs sources said that the value of the illegally imported auto-parts and other accessories are estimated over Rs10 million.

The sources said that the buses were intercepted on the information of Director Customs Intelligence Saud Imran Ahmad while the operation against the buses was supervised by Additional Director Usman Bajwa.

It was said that the Customs Intelligence and Investigation team which seized the illegal goods and articles from the Niazi buses included Customs Intelligence Superintendent Yasin Malik, Inspector Sohail Murtaza, Mansoor Elahi and others.

It was informed that the Customs authorities after registering a case against the smugglers have started investigation to reach to the parties that ordered for the non-customs paid goods and articles.

The raid on the Niazi buses is a part of the aggressive drive against the smugglers initiated by the Customs Intelligence in connection with the strict directions of the Director Saud Imran Ahamd.

The director in his recent policy statement has instructed to come hard on smugglers and spare no one, sources said
