Customs Preventives impounds 170 mobile phones at Allama Iqbal Airport

LAHORE: The Customs Preventive has seized 170 android mobile phones of assorted types from a passenger at Lahore airport. The passenger was coming from China, sources told Customs Today.

As per the sources, on suspicion, the customs authorities intercepted a passenger Naveed Bhatti while he was using green channel and asked him that if he had anything illegal.

The sources said that the passenger replied in no and when the customs authorities searched him and his baggage thoroughly, the they recovered 170 mobile phones of different brands.

The mobile phones were hidden in bottles of water which the passenger claimed that he brought that water from Saudi Arabia, it was added. The sources said that the total value of the mobile phones has been estimated at Rs.5 million.

The sources said that the customs authorities confiscating the mobiles has registered as case and started further investigation.

The sources also said that the illegal import of the mobile is strictly prohibited in Pakistan and if anybody brings from abroad the mobiles in commercial quantity that would be seized and if the authorities decide to register FIR the accused person will also be implicated in legal case.
