Finance Ministry marks objection on Rs 7 trillion road project

ISLAMABAD: The Ministry of Finance has sent back a Rs 7 trillion road project to the Federal Board of Revenue with objection while Finance Minister Ishaq Dar had already approved this project before going to Dubai to meet the IMF officials.

The Finance Ministry has sough the details of this project from the FBR to implement it at the district level. In March this year, in the presence of FBR chairman the project was briefed to the finance minister.

Dar had appreciated the planning of the project and directed them to implement this at district level on priority basis. According to project FBR want to enhance tax recoveries till Rs 7 trillion in coming three years. Finance ministry was objection on project when Ishaq Dar was busy in meeting with IMF and FBR chairman was also with him. FBR has started work on project at the oral appointment of finance minister. According to project of rode to Rs 7 trillion FBR will redefine jurisdiction of Regional Tax offices and Large Tax payer Unit and enhance their power at district level. FBR has a plan to appoint some more RTOs and Chief Commissioner. The finance ministry objection disappoints the FBR officers and now the chairman again raised the matter of this project in front of IShaq Dar.
