Quetta Customs seizes LEDs, gutka

KARACHI: The Model Customs Collectorate, Quetta confiscated a huge quantity of LED monitors and Indian gutka, besides arresting four accused persons during two different raids.

Quetta Customs Deputy Collector Jahanzaib Abbasi received credible information regarding the smuggling of LED monitors on which he formed a team comprising Inspectors Imran Lashari, Sheikh Inam, Murad Shad and others to bust the smuggling attempts.

The team established check posts at exit points where it intercepted a truck for checking that led to the recovery of more than 400 LEDs. The officials confiscated the goods worth Rs 2.4 million after the driver failed to show documents regarding legal import of the goods.

During another action, the customs officials seized Indian origin gutka packed in 10 sacks, besides arresting two suspects. The officials intercepted a passenger bus at a check post and recovered Indian gutka during checking. The recovered items were confiscated considering them contrabands. The customs has registered cases against the suspects.
