KARACHI: The business community has expressed its concern over the complications being faced by it due to loss of infrastructure which has caused interruption in electric supply.
“Industries are suffering complications after rainfall in Karachi during previous days,” the businessmen said, adding that rain has ruined the infrastructure around industrial zones and roads are inundated.”.
The business community further said that due to these problems more the 1.5 million workforce of Korangi Industrial Area (KIA) is not able to reach at their workplace timely and industries, due to this inconvenience of workers orders of exports, estimated in millions, could be affected and could cause heavy losses to national economy.
The business community further said that the Korangi Causeway has been flooded and traffic is diverted, causing long traffic jams in KIA.
“We made it cleared to the authorities many times that due to dumping in Malir river area it is feared that in case of heavy rain, KIA and adjacent areas could have face flood situation but no action to restrict or remove the dumped garbage and debris has taken yet”, they added.
The business community urged the Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah to take immediate notice of worse infrastructure condition of industrial area and sanction funds for development projects on priority basis.
