Customs Intelligence impounds vehicle worth Rs 1.5m

SIALKOT: The Customs Intelligence and Investigation team impounded a non-duty paid Honda car worth Rs 1.5 million during an action on GT Road.

Customs Intelligence Superintendent Rauf Farooqi ordered Deputy Superintendent Muhammad Anwar to constitute a team for checking of vehicles on GT Road in order to impound the smuggled vehicles.

However, the deputy superintendent constituted a team under the command of Intelligence Officer Syed Majid Raza, Constables Asad Raza, Mubashir, Boota and others. The team started checking of vehicles when it intercepted a car, Honda car bearing Registration No ICT-UD-806 and asked driver named Muhammad Kaleem to show documents regarding legal import of the vehicles but he could not produce the same.

The team impounded the car worth Rs 1.5 million under the customs laws and shifted to the compound of Customs Intelligence and Investigation. The team also registered a case under the Customs Act, 1969 against the accused person, while the driver was released after proper interrogation.

It may be mentioned here that the Customs Intelligence has impounded second vehicle during last three days.

When contacted Investigation Officer Syed Majid Raza, he told that the FBR has strictly ordered to taker stern action against non-duty paid vehicles causing loss to national exchequer.
