Customs Preventive impounds vehicles, smuggled goods worth Rs 23.93m during first week of August

ISLAMABAD: The Customs Preventive Islamabad impounded five non-duty paid, six offending vehicles and miscellaneous smuggled items worth Rs 23.93 million during the first week of August 2016-17.

Collector Arslan Subectageen Customs Today that the car cell of Customs Collectorate showed outstanding performance from the beginning of current the fiscal year. He said the car cell is main source to get reasonable revenue through seizure of non-duty paid and offending vehicles.

He said that during last week car cell of anti smuggling squad seized five non duty paid vehicles under value of Rs11.58 million and also seized six offending vehicles under article 157 of Customs Act 1969, the value of offending vehicles was Rs5.500 million.

It is also learnt that during last week anti smuggling squad seized foreign origin food grains in quantity of 1000 kg under value of Rs0.283 million.

The ASO seized 5168 kilograms of foreign origin fabric under value of Rs3.199 million, tirade eight numbers amounting to Rs33600, mobil oil in value of Rs42680.

ASO seized auto parts in different seizers under value of Rs25200, 50 dandas of foreign origin cigarettes under value of Rs21000, of 870 mobile phones under value of Rs703650 and 15 LEDs in value of Rs350175.

The collector said that ASO seized 5 air conditioners under value of Rs117075 and miscellaneous goods under value of Rs1602381. Customs Preventive authorities lodged separate FIRs and started investigations.
