Quetta Customs recovers non-duty paid mobiles, charging fans in two operations

KARACHI: The Quetta Collectorate of Customs has seized a huge quantity of smuggled mobile phones and charging fans in separate incidents.

Sources told Customs Today that Deputy Collector Quetta Customs Jahanzeb Abbasi received information that some smugglers are planning to smuggle a huge quantity of non-duty paid mobile phones outside Quetta jurisdiction. He formed a team comprising Inspector Umer Gul, Inspector Haroon Reza, Inspector Qadeer Ali and other sepoys. The customs team established various checking points at main entry and exit points of the Quetta city.

During checking of vehicles Customs team intercepted and recovered 200 mobiles of different brands from the vehicles. The market value of some of mobile is Rs50,000. Customs team arrested two persons who were boarded on the vehicle because they failed to provide any relevant documents regarding possession and transportation of mobile phones.

During another crackdown Customs team recovered huge quantity of charging fans of different brands. Sources said that ASO authorities received secret information that some smugglers stored huge quantity of charging fans in a godown. He formed a team comprising Inspector Yaseen Elahi, Inspector Mujahid Aslam, Inspector Ali Waselo. The team raided a godown and recovered 500 charging fans from there.

ASO team arrested the two persons who were present at the time of raid at godown. ASO team after registering a case has started further interrogations.
