Hyderabad ASO seizes 40 sacks of tea, four deer

KARACHI: The Anti-Smuggling Organization (ASO) of the Model Customs Collecttorate seized contraband items worth of Rs 220 million during the previous month of July.

Customs Collector Agha Shahid Majeed directed the ASO team not to bear any political and in this regard the Customs officials destroyed 24 petrol pumps in Mirpur Khas. During the fresh action, the ASO team has confiscated a huge quantity of smuggled tea and four deer during two successful raids.

As per the details, Collector Agha Shahid Majeed Received information a huge consignment of tea was snuggled out of city. Consequently he informed the Deputy Collector Umar Shafiq and directed him to curb the smuggling. The deputy director formed a team under his own supervision included Preventive Shahid Khan Abbasi, Inspector Rahahid Qureshi, Jabra  and others. The team established check points at exit point of the city and started the checking of vehicles. During the checking of the vehicles the ASO team intercepted a suspicious truck. While the searching of the truck the officials found 40 sacks of tea. The Customs officials seized the tea and arrested two men who were involved in guilty smuggling. The ASO officials said that the value of seized tea is more than Rs 3.5 million.

In another action the Anti-Smuggling Organization intercepted four deer. On the reliable information about smuggling The ASO team raided at Chori Gali and recovered four non customs-paid deer. The Customs officials seized the deer and arrested three persons who were there during the time of action. Officials told that the value of each couple of deer is more than Rs 300,000.
