FAISALABAD: The Customs Anti-Smuggling Organisation (ASO), Mianwali has impounded a Toyota Land Cruiser worth Rs 11 million involving duty and taxes amounting to Rs 8 million.
Mianwali ASO Deputy Collector Muhammad Rizwan Khan received information regarding a non-duty paid vehicle. After receiving information, he constituted a raiding team comprising Superintendent Chaudhary Muhammad Sardar, Inspector Muhammad Umar Bhatti, Azhar Hussain Jafri, sepoys Muhammad Saifullah, Muhammad Ghulam Mohyuddin, Faiz Ahmed, Sher Ahmed, Saeed Rasool and Muhammad Yousaf.
The ASO team found a Land Cruiser bearing Registration No, BF-7520 (Sindh), Model 1984 as per photo copy of registration book parked near mosque at Toll Plaza M.M Road, Mianwali and no one came forward to claim the ownership of the same. Therefore, the particular of the vehicle were checked from the Sindh Excise website and found not tallied except chassis number.
The ASO team impounded the vehicle and registered a case under Section 2(s), read with SRO 566 (I)/2005 Section 16, 18 of the Customs Act, 1969 and Section 3 of the Sales Tax Act, 1990, Section 148 of Income Tax Ordinance, 2001 read with Section 3(1)3 of the Import and Export Control Act, 1950.
Seizure report has been submitted to the adjudication authority for further legal action.
