Multan Customs Intelligence seizes goods, vehicles worth Rs 32m in July

MULTAN: The Customs Intelligence and Investigation seized smuggled goods and vehicles worth Rs 32.1 million in various anti-smuggling activities during July 2016.

Following the directions of Customs Intelligence Director Saud Imran, the officials conducted several anti-smuggling operations against the offenders in the Multan, Dera Ghazi Khan and Sadiqabad and formed 17 various seizure cases.

During the month, the field squad of intelligence impounded as many as 13 non-duty paid vehicles of different brands worth Rs 16.3 million.

As per details, the Customs Intelligence made three cases involving Rs 18.6 million in Multan city, as it impounded two vehicles and miscellaneous goods during the month.

In Dera Ghazi Khan, it impounded two non-duty paid vehicles including Toyota Corolla and Toyota Vitz along with foreign origin cloth worth Rs 2.6 million in July. The Customs Intelligence teams are taking strict measures to curb smuggling on various routes of Dera Ghazi Khan as smuggled goods of Iran and Afghanistan passed through this region.

The Customs Intelligence formed as many as 11 seizure cases in Sadiqabad and confiscated items worth Rs 10.9 million in the result of extensive anti-smuggling activities. It impounded Suzuki Pick Up, Toyota Premio, Toyota Vitz, Suzuki Alto, Toyota Land Cruiser, Honda Civic and others.

Officials said that teams have been deployed at strategic points of Sadiqabad region to foil attempts of smuggling. The strict vigilance led to the confiscation of smuggled goods and vehicles.

They added that all cases have been sent to the Customs Adjudication for further legal proceedings.
