Sialkot Customs providing advanced facilities to exporters: Collector Ahmed Reza

SIALKOT: Collector Customs Sialkot Ahmed Reza Khan has said that exports from Sialkot increased about 19.1 percent during FY 2015-16 due to of advance facilities provided by the Customs Department.

Talking to Customs Today, Ahmed said that the volume of exports from Sialkot Dry Port Trust (SDPT) and Sialkot International Airport has increased to Rs 13.17 billion during the period. He said  that the exports of leather from Sialkot increased by 18.3 percent, sports goods by 9.1 percent, surgical instruments by 18.9 percent, textile by 30.8 percent, cutlery 9.8 percent and other goods by 7.5 percent.

He said that new steps which are being taken by Customs Sialkot are encouraging exporters to increase their volume of exports as clearance issues are being solve via one window operation and WeBOC system to facilitate the exporters, who were contributing to national economy.

He said that Customs Sialkot has started to pay  pending refund claims to the Sialkot exporters on priority basis and has already distributed Rs 310 million among them. He said that we are working on to make Customs Sialkot a center of excellence with cooperation of the Sialkot based industrialists, exporters and importers.

He lauded the role of exporters in making the country proud and named them as “roaming ambassadors of Pakistan”, who travel all around the world to bring business with their personal efforts. He said that the export earnings of Sialkot stand at $2 billion annually, which is eight percent of the total exports of Pakistan .
