Gwadar Customs recovers smuggled turtles, cameras during operation

KARACHI: Customs Collectorate Gwadar has recovered a huge quantity of smuggled turtles from a ferry during an operation in sea area of Gwadar.

Sources told Customs Today that Collector Gwadar Customs Saeed Akram received information that some smugglers are going to smuggle a huge quantity of turtles. He immediately constituted a team comprising Inspector Mudassar Iqbal, Inspector Shabbir, Inspector Sardar Asif and others. The team enhance checking in Jeewani sea area. During checking the customs team intercepted a ferry and recovered 50 worthy turtles. These turtles were packed in six cartons. The market value of recovered turtles is Rs3.5 million.

Customs team asked the persons who were boarded on ferry to show any legal documents regarding possession and transportation of these turtles but they remained fail to show any documents. the Customs team seized the turtles and registered a case against the suspects.

During another crackdown customs team recovered 200  cameras of German origin from a shop. Sources said that after receiving information ASO team conducted raid and recovered smuggled cameras of different origins.  The owner of the shop which was located in Ormara area failed to show legal documents. Customs team seized the cameras and registered case of smuggling against accused persons.
