KARACHI: Customs Court Judge Syed Faiz Rasool Rashdi has accepted the final challan in Rs 871,836 duty/taxes evasion case and fixed the hearing for charge frame against accused persons named Anees Ahmed, Adil Ahmed, Muhammad Farooq, Arif Humayun and others.
Investigation Officer Ashraf-ur-Rahman submitted the final challan in which he informed the court that during the investigation, in view of facts, documentary evidences in possession and circumstantial evidences, it is established without any doubt that M/s AMI Pakistan Private Limited former chief executive Arif Humayun son of Muhammad Yameen and his associates Muhammad Shakeel son of Usman owner of the M/s Talha Trading Co, Anees Ahmed Khan son of Mahmood Ahmed Khan, Muhammad Farooq son of Eid Muhammad, Noman Abdul Rauf son of Abdul Rauf, and others have mis-declared the goods of broken shape low grade soap noodles 60,000 kg and broken shape low grade soap noodles 40,000 kg and had attempted to evade Rs 871,836 in wake of duty/taxes.
According to the challan, accused persons have violated the provisions of Section 32 (1), 32 (2), 32A, 79 of the Customs Act, 1969 punishable section under clauses 10 A, 14, 14A and 46 of Section 156 (1) of the Customs Act, 1969.
In final challah, Appraisment officer Nisar Jahngir Ahmed, former assistant manager import/ documents of AMI Pakistan Sahira Jahangir, Preventive Officer Malik Muhammad Hashim and Investigation Officer Ashraf-ur-Rahman have been mentioned as case witnesses.
It needs to be mentioned here that all above accused persons are on bail. Copies of the final challan have been supplied and court will charge frame against the accused persons on next date of hearing.
