Customs impounds non-duty paid dismantle Toyota Vitz car

ISLAMABAD: The anti-smuggling squad of the Customs Collectorate has seized one non-duty paid dismantled Toyota Vitz car worth Rs 800,000.

Deputy Collector Preventive Shahid Jan told Customs Today that in pursuance of information, the staff of the Customs Collectorate Islamabad established many pickets at Burhan Interchange and seized Toyota Vitz car (front cut/ dismantled).

The Deputy Collector said that a truck was coming from Rawat. The search of the truck led to the recovery of Toyota Vitz car (front cut/ dismantled) with full accessories worth Rs 800,000.

Shahid Jan said that as possessor of the seized vehicles failed to produce any evidence documentary or otherwise, showing legal import and lawful passion of the recovered foreign origin vehicle.

He said that the car cell seized the Toyota car in term of Section 157 of the Customs Act 1969 after serving notice under section 171 of customs Act upon the accused person.

He said that anti smuggling activity will continue during next financial year 2016-17 with more effective and modern techniques according to directions provided by the Chairman (FBR) and Collector Dr Arslan against the non-duty paid and offending vehicles.

The Customs authorities said that the car was not been registered with any government department including excise and taxation when it was searched.

The Deputy collector said that Collectorate have been given the owner of vehicle legal time to provide legal clearance documents against the Toyota Vitz and if owner failed to provide documents the vehicle will seized.

Shahid Jan said that case has been registered and further investigation is under process, the car cell on instruction of collector stepped-up crack down against the non custom paid and cut and weld vehicles in and around the jurisdiction of the directorate.

This seizure was led by Superintendent Zargam Dil and other staff comprising Adnan Dar DSA, Shakeel Rana DS, Matloob Husain Shah DS, Yousaf Mughal Inspector,and Muhammad Asif Inspector.
