Customs Appraisement-East collects Rs 22.65b in July

KARACHI: The Model Customs Collectorate Appraisement-East has collected at least Rs 22.656 billion duty/taxes under various heads during first month (July) of new fiscal year 2016-17.

According to the details, the Appraisement-East collected Rs 22.656 billion that included Rs 8.460 billion under the head of customs duty, Rs 10.145 billion as sales tax, Rs 4.354 billion as income tax and Rs 400 million as federal excise duty (FED) during the period.

It collected Rs 302, 787 billion during last fiscal year 2015-16 that included Rs 99,904 billion under head of customs duty; Rs 152,082 billion as sales tax; Rs 49,408 billion as income tax and Rs 1,393 billion under the head of FED.

The collection for the year 2014-15 stood at Rs 223,154 billion that included Rs 65,859 billion as customs duty, Rs 117,811 billion as sales tax, Rs 38,115 billion as income tax and Rs 1,368 billion as FED.

Officials said that Appraisement-East Collector Ashad Jawad has appreciated the efforts of the collectorate in collecting such huge revenue, contributing to the national kitty.

They added that Collector Ashad Jawwad has also launched a campaign to recover outstanding dues worth Rs 2 billion from various defaulting importers.

In this regard, the collector has constituted a team who is coordinating with the district authorities of the city for the recovery of the dues.
