ISLAMABAD: The representatives of clearing agent association called upon Collector Dr Arslan Subuctageen and discussed various issues regarding their working at dry port.
Collector Arslan heard their grievances and directed the customs staff to cooperate with them in order to smooth the clearance process at the port. He also assured them that the customs staff will facilitate the importers and exporters, as businessmen are the main sources to get revenue, adding, “We are trying to give better atmosphere to the businesspersons who are doing business through Islamabad Dry Port.
He also advised the member of agents’ association top provider their valuation ruling in written so the collectorate could take all possible measures to facilitate them. The collector further added that no favour will be extended to the agents against the customs law, adding that any harassment by the staffers to businessmen will not be tolerated.
He ordered the staff to avoid delay in clearance process for import/export oriented consignment, besides asking the clearing agents to cooperate with the custom staff to bring ease.
It may be mentioned here that dry ports are main source of revenue generation in Customs North Region. Chief Collector Sarwat Tahira has also given special instruction for making efforts to facilitate the business community.
It may also be added that Islamabad Customs collected Rs 274.2 million duty/taxes during July 2016-17 against Rs 246.04 million collected during same corresponding period of last financial year 2015-16.
Collector Arslan said that monitoring of revenue collection has been started with the start of current financial year, so the collectorate can meet the new revenue targets.
