Hyderabad ASO foils bid to smuggle huge quantity of electronic goods

KARACHI: Customs Anti-Smuggling Organization (ASO) Hyderabad authorities foiled an attempt to smuggle a huge quantity of electronics goods and arrested two persons.

Sources told Customs Today that Collector Hyderabad Agha Shahid Majeed received information that some smugglers are planning to smuggle electronic items. He directed Additional Collector Umer Shafiq to use all available resources to foil the attempt.

Deputy Collector Umer Shafiq formed a team comprising Inspector Saleem Elahi, Inspector Muzaffar Hussain, Inspector Asad. The ASO team established check points at main entry and exit points of the city and started checking of vehicles.

During checking the ASO team intercepted a truck and recovered 20 LEDs, 50 DVDs, 50 laptops, 100 irons, 20 AC split and other goods.

The driver of the vehicle and his companion failed to provide any relevant regarding possession and transportation of these electronics goods. After their failure ASO team arrested the two persons and seized the goods.

ASO team after registering case of smuggled against the accused persons forwarded the case to Customs Adjudication.
