ISLAMABAD: The Custom International Mail office (IMO) excelled its target of taxes on registries and parcels during the financial year 2015-16. However, a new target for 2016-17 has not yet been assigned.
Assistant Collector Sadia Usman told Customs Today that the IMO’s performance was very satisfactory regarding collection of revenue during the last financial year as it had exceeded the set target.
She said that the set target for IMO is increased every year, adding that during the last financial year the IMO collected Rs 17.292 million against the set target of Rs 15.763 million. She hoped to meet the set target of the current financial year.
She was on training for last month; the topic of training was intelligence reporting, it was organized by the Australian Government, it was very good experience of learning.
She said that IMO from March 2016 and from this period the IMO seized 5 big cases of heroin till now at International mail office Chaklala and detained the smugglers.
She said that on special instruction of Board and Customs Collectorate Islamabad the IMO staff working with full confidence and devotion to curb the smuggling through parcels and registries.
She said that during last three month performance of IMO was very good the IMO seized first case of 1.750 kg of Heroin Powder, the second was 205 grams of heroin powder, third was 350 grams of heroin powder, fourth was recovery of 250 grams of heroin powder and fifth recovery of heroin case was in quantity of 210 grams of fine quality of heroin.
