Sources said that Hyderabad Customs Collector Agha Shahid Majeed reviewed the performance of the anti-smuggling squad during a meeting with officials. He also appreciated the performance of the squad and directed its members to continue anti-smuggling operations in the region. The collector also vowed to weed out smuggling.

Meanwhile, the customs seized solar fans and drugs, which were brought into Pakistan by violating the customs laws during two different raids.

As per details, Collector Agha Shahid received information regarding smuggling of fans on which he directed Additional Collector Umar Shafiq to foil the smuggling attempt. The additional collector formed a team and established check post.

The officials intercepted a truck for checking that led to the recovery of 200 solar fans and asked driver to show documents regarding legal import of the items but he could not produce the same. Therefore, the fans worth Rs 1.8 million were confiscated, besides arresting four suspects.

In another action, the Hyderabad Customs staff seized 50 kilogram of charas and other drugs from a house located in area of Latifabad.
