KARACHI: Directorate of Customs Intelligence and Investigation Quetta thwarted an attempt to smuggle a huge quantity of fertilizer while during another crackdown customs authorities seized electronics goods.
Sources told Customs Today that Collector Jahanzaib Abbasi received information that a huge quantity of fertilizer is being smuggled to a neighboring country. After receiving the information collector formed a team comprising Inspector Masood Khan Abbasi, Inspector Ishtiaq Kakar, Inspector Nasir Hameed and other. The team established pickets at main entry and exit points of the city and started checking of vehicles. During the checking, the customs team intercepted a truck and recovered 200 sacks of fertilizer. The Customs team asked the driver of the vehicle to produce legal documents regarding possession and transportation of fertilizer but they failed to show any relevant document.
Upon their failure customs team seized the fertilizer and arrested the four persons who were board the vehicle. Customs team also registered a case of smuggling against them.
Sources said that during another action Customs team intercepted a vehicle and recovered 10 splits, 30 LEDs, laser printers, microwave oven and other goods. Customs team registered case of smuggling against accused persons and started investigations.
