Customs Intelligence seeks LEAs’ assistance to arrest notorious smuggler

FAIZAN: The Directorate of Customs Intelligence and Investigation has written a letter to law enforcement agencies to arrest a notorious smuggler, Sheikh Rab Nawaz, involved in smuggling and illegal trading in guise of Afghan Transit Trade.

Rab Nawaz is wanted in two FIRs No 52 and 18 lodged in 2014 to the Customs Intelligence, which now has sought assistance of police, Frontier Constabulary and other departments to arrest him.

The smuggler has been running a business of transportation for the last 30 years, the letter stated, adding that he uses his passenger buses, especially three buses bearing Registration Nos. 655, 4386 and 7116 for smuggling.

Meanwhile, the Customs Intelligence following the directions of Directorate General Imtiaz Ahmed Khan has impounded a non-duty paid Suzuki Cultus.

The customs officials told Customs Today that on the special instructions of the DG they started checking of vehicles in Sector I-10. During the checking of vehicles, the customs team intercepted suspicious Suzuki Cults.

The officials checked the vehicle thoroughly and found its chassis cut and welded. The customs officials impounded the vehicle and arrested a person named Gul Nawaz. Officials said that the value of impounded vehicles has been estimated at Rs 1.56.
