ISLAMABAD: The Ministry of Law and Justice on Friday barred incumbent Registrar of Appellate Tribunal Inland Revenue (ATIR), Zahid Habib from performing his duties. The ministry will allocate his services to a department it deems fit.

The ATIR officials said that a complaint, filed with the Ministry of Law and Justice, became the reason for Habib’s repatriation.

Through the complaint, the complainant had stated that Habib was appointed registrar of the tribunal in violation of the rules and regulations for the appointment in the office.

On the other hand, ATIR officials said that Habib had done LLM exceeding the qualification eligibility criterion of LLB. Other than this the complainant had pleaded that Habib did not fulfill the experience criterion for the post of tribunal’s registrar as at least 12 years experience was required for the post.

Following the complaint, the Ministry of Law and Justice on Friday repatriated services of Habib who is likely to vacate the office on the next working day. Zahid Habib was not available for comments despite trying several times.
