Customs Court issues warrants for 3 suspects in mis-declaration case

KARACHI: Customs Court Judge Syed Faiz Rasool Rashdi has issued non-bailable arrest warrant against three accused persons namely as Muhammad Shoaib, Arshad Hussain and Saqib Hussain who were booked in a case of mis-declaration of books, electric items etc.

During the hearing, accused persons, Muhammad Shoaib, Arshad Hussain and Saqib Hussain were absent and their counsel was also called absent; therefore, the court issued non-bailable warrant against them.

The court also issued notices to the sureties of the said accused persons and adjourned the hearing for September 20, 2016.

According to the prosecution, above accused were involved in mis-declaration of undeclared/detected goods including books, electric items, shoes, toys, hand bags and etc.

A case was registered by complainant Karachi Customs Export Processing Zone Examination Officer Muhammad Ubaidullah on the violation of Section 32A, 79 & 80 read with chapter xii of sub-section 3 of SRO 450 (I)/ 2001, punishable under clause (14 A) (43) & (85) of Section 156 (I) of the Customs Act 1969, Section 3 & 6 punishable under Section 32 of the Sales Tax Act, 1990.
