The Border Patrol followed the vehicle until the driver turned down a dirt road and plunged into an irrigation canal.

Agents rescued the driver and a passenger from the partially submerged car and arrested them. Neither was identified, but one was American and the other was a Mexican citizen.

The car contained four bundles of marijuana, weighing around 260 pounds, and six ounces of crack cocaine. The case has been handed over to the Drug Enforcement Administration for investigation and prosecution.
