TEXAS: A pair of suspected drug runners was arrested at the Texas border this week after crashing a BMW loaded with marijuana and crack cocaine into a canal.

On Tuesday, agents at the Weslaco Border Patrol Station reported seeing several people loading bundles into a vehicle. When they approached the vehicle, the driver took off.

The Border Patrol followed the vehicle until the driver turned down a dirt road and plunged into an irrigation canal.

Agents rescued the driver and a passenger from the partially submerged car and arrested them. Neither was identified, but one was American and the other was a Mexican citizen.

The car contained four bundles of marijuana, weighing around 260 pounds, and six ounces of crack cocaine. The case has been handed over to the Drug Enforcement Administration for investigation and prosecution.
