Quetta Customs seizes smuggled goods worth Rs 16.08m in two raids

QUETTA: The Customs officials have seized huge quantity of smuggled cell phones and other miscellaneous goods worth Rs 16.08 million in two separate operations.

The Quetta Customs carried out operations on tipoff that some smugglers were planning to transport contraband goods through Chaman-Quetta passenger train.

The Customs’ Anti-Smuggling Organisation (ASO), along with Frontier Constabulary and local police, conducted raid on the train near Baleli railway station and recovered smuggled cigarettes of different brands, cell phones and other goods worth around Rs 15 million.

In another raid, the Quetta Customs, on a tipoff, intercepted pilgrims’ buses at Taftan-Quetta border and recovered miscellaneous smuggled goods worth Rs 1.08 million. Cases have been registered and further investigation is underway.
