Mianwali ASO impounds non-duty paid Toyota Premio worth Rs 2.7m

FAISALABAD: The Anti-Smuggling Organization (ASO), Mianwali has seized a non-duty paid Toyota Premio vehicle during routine checking.

Sources told to Customs Today that the ASO team comprising Superintendents Chaudhary Muhammad Sardar, Azhar Hussain Jafri, Muhammad Omar Bhatti (inspectors) and Sher Ahmad, Muhammad Amin, and Muhammad Yousaf (sepoys) intercepted a Toyota vehicle bearing registration No, NW-975 Islamabad petrol model 2007 near Musa Khail Pindi Road District Mainwali.

The ASO team asked the owner of vehicle, who was identified as Fahid Yaqoob Awan S/O Muhammad Yaqoob Awan, a resident of Ward No, 8 Chowk Azam District Layyah, to produce legal documents but he failed to show any legal documents. The ASO team examined the vehicle and found nothing available in it except bogus copy of registration book. The ASO impounded the vehicle under section 2(s), read with SRO566(1)2005 section 16, and 18 of the customs act 1969 section 3 of sales tax act 1990 and section 148 of income tax ordinance 2001 and forward the case to Customs Adjudication for legally action.

Customs officials said that the market value of impounded vehicle is Rs 2.7 million involving customs duty and taxes of Rs 1.5,58 million.
