MULTAN: Parliamentary secretary on agriculture, MPA Rana Ijaz Ahmad Noon distributed 66 motorcycles among the agriculture field assistants, here on Saturday.
The motorcycles were given in a ceremony held at Agriculture Farm of government, situated at old Shujabad road. While addressing the ceremony, Rana Ijaz Ahmad Noon said that provision of motorcycles would help creating awareness among farmers for modern agriculture technology. Similarly, it would enable farmers get advisory at their door step.
On the instructions of Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif, 2500 motorcycles are being distributed among the agriculture field assistants throughout province and the process would complete by September 30, said the parliamentary secretary.
Noon added that initiative would help farmers to have easy access to modern agriculture technology in order to improve their per acre yield. The officials would move by their motorcycles from field to field and would also organize farmers gatherings to extend agriculture advisory services to them at their door step.
Similarly, the process of registration of farmers for interest-free loans was also in progress to support farmers and ensure food security, stated Ijaz Noon.
About soil sampling and analysis, he informed that a project was also under execution to lift soil samples from all the districts in Punjab for analysis and their results would enable officials give proper advice to farmers.
Farmers are also being connected to the Internet through smartphones to enable them get weather forecast and other guidelines from agriculture web sites developed by the government on time. It will help farmers increase their agriculture production and its quality, he maintained.
On this occasion, Vice Chancellor Muhammad Nawaz Sharif University of Agriculture Dr Asif, DG Agriculture Dr Anjum, DG Agriculture Research Dr Abid Mehmood, EDO Shafqat Bhatti, Assistant director information Naveed Asmat Kohloon and others were also present.
