FAISALABAD: The Anti-Smuggling Organization (ASO) Faisalabad impounded a non-duty paid Toyota Land Cruiser. The market value of the said vehicle is Rs 1,800,0000 involving customs duty and taxes to the tune of Rs 5,00,000.
Sources told Customs Today that Customs Collector Zulifikar Ali Choudhary received information that a non-duty paid vehicle was plying on roads of Faisalabad. After receiving information, he constituted a raiding team comprising Superintendent Saeed Akhtar Joiya Inspector Khalid Ashraf Noor, Inspector Ali Zahid and sepoys Muhammad Khalid Dogar, Muhammad Afzaal, Muhammad Naeem, and Liaqat Ali.
The ASO team intercepted the vehicle near Gattwala Toll Plaza Sheikhupura Road Faisalabad which was bearing registration No. BD- 2760- Sindh as per seat belt having dark grey colour which was seen coming near Gattwala Sheikhupura Road Faisalabad which was to chained with another vehicle Toyota Hilux Surf.
During initial interrogation with the driver of the Land Cruiser and other vehicle Toyota Hilux were both escaped leaving behind the vehicles. The staff tried their best to trace the said vehicle Toyota Hilux Surf. But he could not Succeed. The Toyota Land Cruiser was taken into possession and brought to the Customs dry port Faisalabad for further investigations.
he ASO team seized the vehicle under section 2(s) read with SRO with 566 (1)/2005 section 16, 18, 168 and 178 of the Customs Act 1969.
