Gilgit-Baltistan Customs generates Rs 969.5m till Sept 15

ISLAMABAD: The Model Customs Collectorate Gilgit-Baltistan (GB) collected duty/taxes amounting to Rs 969.517 million till September 15 of running fiscal year 2016-17.

Collector Ali Raza said that performance of the collectorate in revenue collection remained outstanding during the said period, adding that the collection of duty/taxes on the import of heavy machinery contributed a huge chunk to the total sum.

During first 15 days of September, the GB Customs collected Rs 185.879 million as custom duty, Rs 141.547 million in the wake of sales tax and Rs 46.244 million withholding tax, while the total collection of all duties and taxes stood at Rs 373.67.

During August 2016, the customs collected Rs 196.905 million as customs duty, Rs 134.426 million in wake of sales tax and Rs 61.021 million under the head of WHT, while the total collection stood at Rs 392.352 million.

It collected Rs 95.409 million in shape of customs duty, Rs 77.299 as sales tax and Rs 30.785 million in shape of WHT during July 2016, while the total value stood at Rs 203.494 million.
