DG Internal Audit finalizes audit-paras related to steel consignments

KARACHI: The Directorate General of Internal Audit-Customs has completed all its working in connection with preparation of audit-paras related to the imported consignments of steel during the last three years through all three field formation Collectorates i.e. Customs Appraisement West, Appraisement East and Port Qasim.

Director General of the Directorate General of Internal Audit-Customs Dr Owais Agha Jawwad, a month ago, directed the officials to initiate and prepare audit-paras in connection with the cleared consignments of steel. The Directorate General of Internal Audit-Customs has completed 80 percent a week ago.

Although, the sources confirmed Customs Today that the authorities of the Directorate General of Internal Audit-Customs has completed its working in order to compile the audit paras related to the cleared consignments of steel during the last three years from all three field formation Collectorates.

It is pertinent to mention here that the FBR authorities have asked the DG Internal Audit-Customs to initiate audit of the cleared consignments from all field formations in different sectors.

Replying to a query, the departmental sources informed that the millions of rupees recovery in terms of short payment in the clearance of steel consignments from all three field formation Collectorates during last three years have been found, adding that the audit-paras for settlement the differential amount would sent to the authorities concerned of all three field formation Collectorates from next week.

The sources further said that around Rs800million short revenue recovery has been witnessed and detected during establishing of audit-paras in terms of the steel consignments which were cleared during the last three years from all three field formation Collectorates.
