Assistant Collector Fahad reviews performance of refund department

SIALKOT: Model Customs Collectorate Assistant Collector Fahad Bashir Chaudhary visited the refund department at camp office and reviewed the performance of the officials.

Fahad Bashir told Customs Today that the department received 40 to 60 claims in a week by the exporters, adding that the Sialkot Customs was receiving the claims at its camp office in order to facilitate the exporters of the region.

The refund claims on the exports are filed by the exporters when their consignments reached at destinations through Sialkot Dry Port Trust (SDPT) and Sialkot International Airport Limited (SIAL), he informed.

He further said that the customs officials scrutinised all available record after receiving the claims in order to ensure the transparency, adding that the claims were rejected with objection by the officials, if they observed any discrepancy while checking the record. The exporters can file the claims against after settling the objections raised by the department.

The Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) has strictly instructed the collectorates to check the record in depth while issuing any refund claim to exporters, the assistant collector said, adding that the department was striving to finalise the refund claims without any delay.
