The sources informed that Dr Qureshi shared some important reports and information regarding the embezzlement in the clearance of imported consignments of pharmaceutical items.

The sources further said that the collector asked the officials to initiate a detailed scrutiny of the pharmaceutical consignments; adding that the PCT and valuation of the consignments could also be evaluated efficiently.

“Following the directives, the AIB officials have started to scrutinize the details of the cleared consignments of pharmaceutical on secret basis”, sources added.

Responding to a query, the sources disclosed that the AIB of Appraisement (West) would complete the scrutinizing of the imported data related to the pharmaceutical consignments within a month, as there are some information that massive corruption in terms of tax evasion through mis-declaration and under-invoicing have been received by the authorities of Appraisement West.

It is pertinent to mention here that the authorities of AIB have already conducted the scrutiny of the imported consignments related to the different chemicals and also sent a report in this regard to the Collector Appraisement West.
