Customs Adjudication issues notice to suspect involved in smuggling of LCDs, LEDs

FAISALABAD: Customs Adjudication Additional Collector Beelam-ur-Ramzan has issued a show cause notice to a suspect who is involved in smuggling of foreign origin LCDs and LEDs involving customs duty and taxes worth Rs 2,462,277.

The Faisalabad Customs Anti Smuggling Organization (ASO) intercepted a trailer bearing registration no. TLB-808 loaded with used LCDs, LEDs (4010 pieces), near Toll Plaza M.M Road Mianwali.

The team asked the driver named Shair Khan son of Zubair Khan to show documents regarding legal import of the items but he could not produce the same. Therefore, the officials impounded the items and forwarded case to Customs Adjudication for further legal action.

Now, Additional Collector Beelamur Ramzan issued show cause notice to the accused person on the violation of Section 10-A. 89(1) and 156(1) of the Customs Act, 1969.

However, the adjudication has directed the accused to file reply on next date of hearing. The seizing agency has also been directed to file reply in the respective case.

The adjudication authority also directed Deputy Collector Muhammad Rizwan to attend the hearing on schedule date along with relevant record.
