Custom court acquits two suspects in tax fraud case

KARACHI: Custom Court Judge Syed Faiz Rasool Rashdi has acquitted two suspects, Faisal Rehman s/o Malik Nazeer and Sadiq Sultan s/o Sultan Ali Bhayani, who were allegedly involved in a case of mis-declaration and evasion of duty and taxes of Rs 995, 267.

During the hearing, after the both sides’ final arguments, the court announced the judgment and observed in its order that: “In view of findings and after examination of whole evidence adduced by the prosecution as discussed during arguments, it has been established beyond any reasonable doubt that the prosecution has not succeeded in bringing the guilt of the accused and as such benefit of doubt, court acquitted the present accused Faisal Rehman and Sadiq Sultan from the charge”.
