Customs Intelligence impounds vehicles, items worth Rs 29m in Q1

LAHORE: Customs Intelligence and Investigation impounded non-duty paid vehicles and smuggled items worth Rs 29 million during first quarter of financial year 2016-17.

As per details, the directorate impounded 7 non-duty paid vehicle worth Rs 8.2 million involving duty/taxes amounting to Rs 14.056 million, while 1321 yards of illegally imported cloth was also confiscated. Value of cloth was determined at Rs 647, 400 involving duty and taxes amounting to Rs 298,275.

On the other hand, the Customs Intelligence seized 70 tyres and tubes worth Rs 3.5 million involving duty/taxes amounting to Rs 1.434 million. It also seized auto parts worth Rs 1.171 million involving duty/taxes to the tune of Rs 841,013. It also confiscated engine oil worth Rs 28,800 involving duty/taxes Rs 16,670.

Similarly, the directorate impounded miscellaneous goods worth Rs 16.229 million involving duty/taxes amounting to Rs 7.011 million.

As a whole, the directorate seized contraband goods and vehicle worth Rs 29 million involving duty/taxes Rs 23 million.

Sources informed that the goods and vehicles were seized from various localities in the city on the instructions of Director Saud Imran under the supervision of Superintendent Malik Yasin.
