Customs Central Region collects Rs27.22b duty, taxes during Q1

LAHORE: Customs Central Region has collected Rs27.22 billion all duty and taxes during the first quarter (July September) of financial year 2016-17.

AS per details, Customs Appraisement collected Rs 13988 million during the three months of the financial year 2016-17 against the collection of Rs 13958 million during the same period last financial year.

Similarly, the collectorte of Customs Preventive collected Rs 2687 million during the period under review against Rs 6370 the same period last financial of 2015-16.

On the other hand, the collectorate of Customs Multan collected Rs 4764 million during the period under review against Rs 9618 million the same period last financial year.

Likewise, the collectorate of Faisalabad collected Rs 2179 million during the first quarter of financial year 2016-17 against Rs 1084 million during the same period during first quarter financial year 2015-16.

On the whole the collectorate collected Rs 27220 million during the period under review against Rs 31032 million during the same period last financial year.

Source told Customs Today that chief collector of Customs central region Samaira Nazir has directed all the four collectors including collector of customs Lahore Preventive and Customs Appraisement to speed up collection of the duty and taxes to achieve the financial year’s targets.

It was also informed that in this connection that the chief collector has called an emergent meeting of all the collectors at the Customs House.

The sources said that the chief collectors will direct the collectors on revenue collection, curtailing of smuggling and facilitating to the importers and exporters in all possible manners.
