Customs Intelligence seizes 12,000 litres of petrol, 50 cans of brake oil

KARACHI: Directorate of Customs Intelligence and Investigation has seized 12,000 litre Iranian oil and 50 cans of brake oil while two persons were arrested during a successful raid.

Director Irfanur Rehman received information that some elements were planning to smuggle Iranian oil through an oil tanker. On this, he informed the anti-smuggling team and instructed them to use all available sources to curb the smuggling.

The anti-smuggling team established check post at Northern Road and started checking vehicles. During the checking of vehicles the team intercepted an oil tanker. During the searching of the tanker the team found 12,000 litre Iranian petrol and 50 cans of brake oil which were hidden in the cavities of the oil tanker. The team asked the driver to produce legal document of oil but he was failed to produce any customs clearance documents. The Customs officials seized the oile and arrested two persons who were involved in smuggling. Officials said that the value of seized oil is more than Rs700000.
