CPEC to pave way for economic development of whole region: President

ISLAMABAD: President Mamnoon Hussain Tuesday said China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) would pave way for economic development of Pakistan and the region as it offers immense employment opportunities and new avenues for economic progress.

The President was talking to a delegation of Space and Upper Atmosphere Research Commission (SUPARCO) headed by its Chairman Maj Gen Qaiser Anees Khurram who called on him here at the Aiwan-e-Sadr.

Chairman SUPARCO briefed the President about the ongoing satellite development projects and his organization’s role and contribution in completion of CPEC projects.

The President expressed satisfaction that all institutions were contributing in completion of all projects under the CPEC and pointed that the role of SUPARCO was of great significance. The President appreciated the growing role of SUPARCO in country’s economic progress and development and said it needs to inform the government departments about its capabilities for optimum utilization of its expertise in agriculture, water resources, healthcare, education, disaster management and environment monitoring.

President Mamnoon Hussain said SUPARCO needs to promote awareness amongst public of the usefulness of space technology. The President appreciated the space technology based support as SUPARCO was providing to the CPEC in major areas.
