NCCSL to hold Sri Lanka, Australia bilateral trade seminar

COLOMBO: The National Chamber of Commerce of Sri Lanka (NCCSL) will hold a session on “Bilateral Trade between Sri Lanka and Australia” on Tuesday 25 October 2016 from 3.00 to 4.30 p.m. at the National Chamber Auditorium on D R Wijewardene Mawatha in Colombo. High Commissioner of Australia to Sri Lanka Bryce Hutchesson will be the special guest speaker.

The Australian economy has experienced continuous growth and features low unemployment, contained inflation, very low public debt and a strong and stable financial system. Australia is an open market with minimal restrictions on imports of goods and services, which has increased productivity and made the economy more flexible and dynamic.

Australia is a significant exporter of natural resources, energy, food, and attracts high levels of foreign investment; it has extensive reserves of coal, iron, copper, gold, natural gas, uranium and renewable energy sources.

Sri Lanka’s exports to Australia include apparel, tea, footwear, virgin coconut oil, solid tyres and retreaded pneumatic tyres of rubber. Sri Lanka imports mansoor dhall, milk and cream, wheat grain, paper and paper board and live animals from Australia. Potential export products to Australia are all products, men/boys trousers and shorts of cotton, other petroleum oils and preparations T-shirts and textile materials.

The Participants will have an opportunity to meet with the High Commissioner and officials of the Australian High Commission.
