KARACHI: The Anti-Smuggling Organization (ASO) of the Customs Intelligence and Investigation has widens the ambit of crackdown against the Indian Direct-To-Home (DTH) service across the country.
Officials of the Directorate General of Customs Intelligence and Investigation Anti Smuggling Organization (ASO) along with the team of Pakistan Electronic Media Regulatory Authority (PEMRA) conducted several raids in a week and recovered Indian Direct-To-Home (DTH) service along with other equipment used to watch Indian channels.
According to the source the raids were conducted in Sarghoda, Mianwali, Khushab, Bhakkar, Joharabad, Noorpur Thal, Peshawar, Nowshera, Mardan, Charsada, Kohat, DI Khan, Hazara Region, Karachi, Lahore, Hyderabad, Sukhar, Larkana, Mirpuskhas, Narowal, Faisalabad, Rawalpindi along with other cities of Punjab against the cable operators and sellers of Indian Direct-To-Home (DTH) service.
During the raids thousands of cable operators were investigated and action was taken against the twelve hundred and eighty seven offenders. The officials of the Directorate General of Customs Intelligence and Investigation Anti Smuggling Organization (ASO) along with the team of PEMRA apprehended 1762 equipment being used illegally as well as other detained 253 out of 1762 equipment were related to the Indian Direct-To-Home (DTH) service.
In one week four thousand, one hundred and thirty one illegal Indian receivers of the Direct-To-Home (DTH) service, LNB and C-line receivers were also taken into the custody during the raids conducted across the country.
