Quetta Customs foils bids to smuggle huge quantity of Iranian diesel, narcotics

KARACHI: Directorate of Customs Intelligence and Investigations Quetta has thwarted nine attempts of smuggling during October.

Sources told Customs Today that during the midnight of Tuesday and Wednesday, a Quetta Customs team recovered a huge quantity of smuggled Iranian diesel and narcotics in separate operations. Sources said that Director Customs Intelligence Irfanur Rehman received information that a huge quantity of narcotics were being smuggled through a passenger bus outside Quetta city.

He immediately formed a team which established some checking points on main entry and exit points of the city. The team started checking of vehicles. The team intercepted a passenger bus which were heading towards Kotri and during checking recovered ten kilograms of hashish. The hashish were tactfully hidden in the secret parts of the vehicle. The customs team arrested the driver and conductor of the bus and after registering a case started investigations.

During another operation customs team thwarted an attempt to smuggle huge quantity of Iranian diesel outside Quetta city. Sources said that after receiving information Director Customs Irfanur Rehman constituted a team which started checking of vehicle on main entry points of the city. The team intercepted a vehicle and during checking recovered 18,000 liters of smuggled Iranian diesel. The market value of seized Iranian diesel is Rs1.1 million. Customs team after registering a case of smuggling started further investigations.
