KARACHI: The tax lawyers association has asked Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) to extend the filing of income tax return for salaried, business individuals and persons up to December 31, 2016 due to problem in the FBR’s online system (IRIS).
The Karachi Tax Bar Association (KTBA), in a letter to FBR chairman, requested to resolve the problems of IRIS system and extension of time for filing of tax returns and wealth statement and statements under section 115 (4) of Income Tax Ordinance, 2001.
The FBR has already extended the date for filing annual income tax return up to October 31, 2016 which was extended from August 31 for salaried persons and September 31 for business individuals and for final tax regime.
The KTBA apprised the FBR chairman that bar members and taxpayers were facing enormous difficulties in preparing and filing of Income Tax Return / Statement under section 114 and 115(4) of the Income Tax Ordinance, 2001 due to the main reason that the system of Iris was not working and creating problems.
The systematic tax return under section 114 and statement under 115(4) are still not properly working out of the tax payable and the data which the taxpayer punched in the filled in is not calculating tax properly according to the Income Tax Ordinance.
