Chief Collector Zahid Khokhar to hold press briefing on massive seizure of Iranian diesel by ASO

KARACHI: Chief Collector Enforcement (South) Muhammad Zahid Khokhar will hold a press conference on Wednesday (today) to showcase the items seized by the Anti Smuggling Organization ASO before the media. The news conference will be held at East Wharf, Ghas Bhandar.

Collector Preventive Dr Saifuddin Junejo, Additional Collector (Headquarters) Dr Nadeem Memon and Deputy Collector ASO Ali Raza Sipra will accompany the chief collector.

According to sources, the ASO has foiled a bid to smuggle 44,000 liters Iranian diesel at Mochko check-post, bringing the total quantity of the seized item to around 84,000 liters in ten days.

In another case, the ASO foiled smuggling bids and recovered more than 400 liters of Iranian diesel from Mochko and at superhighway in separate raids. And, it also conducted various raids and confiscated Indian origin gutka wroth more than Rs 10 million.

The sources said that ASO team also confiscated Indian origin gutka and 400 Iranian diesel in just five days worth Rs 10 million. Adding, ASO also foiled a bid to smuggle foreign liquor into the city.

According to details, Deputy Collector ASO Ali Raza Sipra received a tip off that foreign origin liquor would be smuggled to parts of city. While acting swiftly on the information, ASO team increased checking of private vehicles.

And on checking of a car, the officials of the ASO recovered 42 bottles of Black Label wine from secret concealment of the car. The authorities arrested the car driver and started further investigation into the matter.
