OGALES: AZ – Authorities say a man has been caught after trying to smuggle drugs inside food items.
A release from US Customs and Border Protection says a 62-year-old man tried to bring nearly three pounds of methamphetamine into the country wrapped in tortilla packages. The man was caught by a narcotics-detection canine at the pedestrian crossing, officials said.
A picture provided by CBP showed stacks of tortillas that had been hollowed out to place drugs in the middle.
The man was turned over to US Immigration and Customs Enforcement’s Homeland Security Investigations department.
