Customs Intelligence seizes 160 compressors

SIALKOT: Customs Intelligence and Investigation, Gujranwala Region has confiscated 160 non-duty paid compressor worth Rs50,000 at Rahwali check.

As per the details, on the directions of Deputy Director Ali Zeb Khan the Superintendent Muhammad Rauf Farooqi constituted a team under the supervision of Intelligence Inspector Saeed Ahmed Watto to curb smuggling. The said Inspector along with his team members constables Usama, Sajid and Mubashir started checking of vehicles.

During the checking of vehicles the team intercepted a minivan. During the search of the van the team recovered 160 smuggled compressors. The team asked the driver namely Nabi Ahmed about customs clearing papers of compressor but he was failed to produce said papers. However team confiscated smuggled compressor worth Rs50,000 and shifted in the store room of department office.

However the team released driver after proper interrogation with van. The team registers a case and case will refer before the Adjudication Court for proceeding. After the completion of proceeding if the learned court will announce judgment in the favor of department then department will liable to auction of confiscated smuggled compressor as per Customs Laws and Customs Act 1969.
